Welcome to the future of FinTech

Kort om föreläsningen:

With Swedish companies like Klarna and iZettle challenging traditional financial services, FinTech has become a hot topic over the last few years. Now you have the opportunity to listen to the authors of the upcoming book ”The Rise and Development of FinTech – Accounts of Disruption from Sweden and Beyond” (Routledge, 2018). Claire Ingram Bogusz, Anthony Larsson, Mats Lewan, Shahryar Siri and Robin Teigland, will share their research findings at Estrad on March 19.

FinTech, or Financial Technology, entails new technologies and innovations that aim to compete with traditional financial methods in the delivery of financial services. Although the term FinTech has spread rapidly across the world in recent years, the impact of FinTech is wide ranging and varied. From offering previously ”unbanked” individuals in developing countries access to financial products, to crowdfunding upstarts of local cafés, educational programs, and healthcare – FinTech startups are putting pressure on traditional financial institutions with cheaper and better products.

Sweden has a long tradition of financial services, and has generated FinTech stars that have risen to international acclaim. New companies are now starting up at an increasing pace, and the technological disruption that they generate is enabling end-customers and companies to access new and better financial services.

Our speakers will talk about the future of FinTech, addressing questions like:
– What is the role of trust in emerging technologies and business models?
– What are the implications of sharing personal data in the realm of FinTech?
– How will FinTech impact society in our daily lives?

In conjunction with the lecture, we will also reveal the winners of Nytt&Nyttigt, a national student thesis competition on innovation (organized by ESBRI and Vinnova).

Please note that the lecture is in English.
