As a first step, priority has been given to building the innovation skills of the officials and practitioners who experience problems, identify needs and implement municipal processes and procedures. Over the past two years, one group has had to develop new ways of working and thinking so that they have the capacity to drive innovation. This has been done through workshops and weekly and monthly meetings led by Luleå University of Technology and the research institute Rise. Chelsey Jo Huisman is a Senior Lecturer at Uppsala University and part of the Innovation Platform Kiruna project, which runs until December 2022.
