Disseminating research on innovation, entrepreneurship and small businesses

From sci-fi to everyday AI

- business opportunities in new technology

Date:
Lecturers: Nasim Farahini, PhD, Qamcom, and Fredrik Heintz, Associate Professor, Linköping University

About the lecture:

Welcome to a new Estrad season, and the 200th open lecture since the start in 1997! Estrad is all about inspiration, sharing knowledge, and meeting up with interesting people. We hope that you will join us on September 27 for an eye-opening discussion on artificial intelligence (AI).

Self driving cars, intelligent robots and computers with superhuman performance in games like Go or Poker was previously science fiction. Today it is reality. AI creations like Siri and Alexa answer our questions, guide us, and tell us jokes.

During this lecture, we will take a look at state-of-the-art in Internet of Things (IoT), AI and autonomous systems (and mergers between them). What are the possibilities – and challenges – for existing companies? In which areas will we see a new wave of startups, building on AI? And what are the consequences for society?

Nasim Farahini and Fredrik Heintz will explore these questions at the limit of what science and engineering can do today. Their findings will also be discussed by three panelists: Margareta Groth, Vinnova, Joel Hellermark, Sana Labs, and Christina Henryson, Tillväxtverket. Prepare for an inspiring afternoon where you might end up leaving with more questions than answers…
