Everyone has a story to tell, not least entrepreneurs. And the stories are important. They show that it is possible to pursue a career as an entrepreneur. There is also a lot to learn about how to start and run a business. Professor Bill Gartner has taken this into account in his research. His latest project is to collect and study entrepreneurial stories.
The knowledge contained in the stories is important for new entrepreneurs. Gartner is also interested in the extent to which an entrepreneur’s vision of the future can predict how the company will actually perform. By following entrepreneurs over time, and hearing how their stories change, you can see how they shape – and are shaped by – their environment.
In his research, Bill Gartner draws on David McClelland’s ideas on “The achieving society”, which can be linked to entrepreneurship, achievement and economic development.
After the lecture, we celebrate Christmas with mulled wine and mingle!
